Kaya-S\u00f6nmez holds a bachelor\u2019s degree in International Relations from \u00c7ukurova University and a master\u2019s degree in International Relations from the same university. She is currently pursuing her doctorate at Kadir Has University in the International Relations (English) Program. Currently, as a doctoral candidate at Kadir Has University, she continues her research on the relationship between energy security and climate security in the European Union. She worked as a visiting doctoral student at the Centre Marc Bloch Research Center in Berlin, Germany, for three months with a T\u00dcB\u0130TAK Overseas Doctoral Research Fellowship. Her academic interests include securitization, environmental security, climate security, and the EU.
