Zekiye Gürün-Üçem is a PhD Fellow and Member of the International Graduate Centre for the Study of Culture (GCSC) at Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen, a Research Assistant at Leuphana Universität Lüneburg, and a PhD Scholar of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung. Her research focuses on migration, citizenship, and integration policies in Germany, with particular emphasis on Türkiye–Germany mobility and transnational governance. Holding a Master’s degree in Public Economics, Law, and Politics from Leuphana Universität Lüneburg as a Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung scholar, her academic work has examined the evolution and liberalisation of German citizenship law, analysing how demographic change, political dynamics, and international norms have shaped contemporary debates on belonging and inclusion.
